Week 10: Jen L. Grey
Book: Reaper of Earth
Let’s talk Jen Grey for a minute. This lady is awesome. We first “met” on Facebook (because as authors we friend other authors and network), but last September we were able to meet for the first time at Penned Con in St. Louis. It was amazing, and since then, me, Jen, and a small group of authors have kept in touch quite often. She’s amazing and let’s just say she keeps you on your toes! You just never know what’s going to come out of her mouth, and it’s hilarious. And I can tell you, her books are as amazing as she is! Reaper of Earth will not disappoint. If reapers are your thing, you’re going to love this unique story! And if they’re not your thing, you’re still going to love it!!
Hidden abilities, haunting memories, and one confused girl.
I’m a reaper. Death should come naturally to me, but it doesn’t. And the abilities I am able to conjure are forbidden by my kind. My parents try to hide my abilities, but when the elders assign my first target, they order my parents to stay back.
Now I’m on my own, with no one to protect me, no idea what I’m doing, and no control over the powers I’m supposed to keep hidden.
I should have known this would blow up in my face.
My family name is ruined, and I have to fix what I’ve ripped. I’m not sure I have what it takes. The fate of my entire kind is on my shoulders, and I’m the only one who can make things right. But if I mess up again, it won’t just be my family that I break—our entire world will be ruined.

Week 9: SF Benson
I first heard of SF Benson when I was preparing to attend the Great Lakes Book Bash a couple years ago. Since I didn’t know hardly any of the authors, I was doing my research and came across Regress. Loved it. So, I made sure to add stopping by to see SF Benson a priority. I wasn’t disappointed. Y’all she is one of the funnest, most energetic, and smartest people that I’ve ever met! We’ve been able to see one another a handful of times since then at various events, and she’s one of the people I look forward to seeing (at one event, her table was beside mine and it was a riot watching her interact with people). I promise, the woman will put a smile on your face in no time. And her books are as amazing as she is. I couldn’t put this one down! It grips you from the very beginning, and doesn’t let you go. Don’t believe me? Find out for yourself!
Secrets come in all shapes and sizes, but this one fits in the palm of your hand.
Tru Shepherd is like a lot of teenagers–stubborn and foolhardy. While her peers are lining up to take a life-altering vaccine, her goal is to avoid it at all costs.
Zared Aokie has a different agenda–exposing what the vaccine does. He can’t do it without Tru’s help. She doesn’t know it yet, but she’s the key to finding technology that will expose government secrets.
It’s been awhile since the two have crossed paths. Zared, not willing to discuss his past, hopes Tru will have a little faith and help him. Together, they must achieve the impossible–exposing the corrupt leaders responsible for the dreadful disease before Tru is injected.
Regress is the gripping first book in The Alliance Chronicles–a suspenseful, post-apocalyptic technothriller. If you like action-packed political conspiracies, diverse characters, and a dash of romance, then you’ll love a series that delivers it all in a captivating punch.
Week 8: Julie Trettel
Book: One True Mate
When I published my first book, I was a fish out of water and so tiny in this world that I knew nobody and nobody knew me. Then this woman (Julie Trettel) messaged me that she’d read my book and liked it, and we started chatting. Every day chatting. It’s gotten to the point where it’s almost freaky if one of us doesn’t message the other at least once a day to check in, and Julie has become as close to a sister to me as my own. She’s amazing and supportive, and overall such a wonderful person! If I ever need anything, I know I can go to her, and she can come to me. When she first told me about the idea for this book, I admit, I pushed hard for her to self publish it. I knew without a doubt she could do it and be successful! And this book is amazing! Not just the book, the whole series, and the spin off series! Honestly, if you love werewolves, check out this book. You won’t be disappointed in the least (and I’m not just saying that because she’s my bestie!).
P.S. You should check out Julie’s book In Plain Sight tomorrow when it releases!!!
Kelsey Adams is alone, and has been since childhood. Running away is all she knows and necessary to preserve her deepest, darkest secret. She can not afford for anyone to get close, or know about the monster within. But when she lands a lucrative job as an administrative assistant to Kyle Westin, CEO of the Westin Foundation, her life changes and everything’s at stake. Can she conceal her growing feelings and her true self from this enigmatic, strong willed man, or will her world fall apart?
Kyle Westin, an alpha male who always gets what he wants, has watched and waited for the little she-wolf he knows is his perfect mate to show any signs of recognition. For two years he endures her unnecessary formality and daily rejections with a patience he did not know he possessed. But even Kyle has his limits…. Can he make Kelsey notice him as someone other than her boss and break down the walls she built around her heart? Or will Kelsey do what she has always done — run?

Week 7: Jana LaPelle
If you don’t know Jana, then you need to get to know her. She’s one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and she’s always ready to help a fellow author out! We’ve been friends on Facebook for a few years now, and I hope that one day I can meet her in person. And we haven’t even started talking about her books yet! On top of being an amazing person, her books are just as amazing!! She’s got a new one up for pre-order right now, but the one we’re spotlighting is Kindred. It’s. A. Must. Read. People. Have I ever steered you wrong? I didn’t think so. You won’t regret it! Not one bit.
Adopted at an early age she’s been given every advantage. Eighteen year old Ashlinn Ryllae Elan has wondered, for most of her life, where she fit in. Where did she really come from and why she was abandoned with nothing more than a Celtic inspired pendant necklace. After her eighteenth birthday, strange dreams plague her during the night leaving her to wonder about the man who now seems to haunt her nightly. The connection she feels to this handsome stranger leaves her wishing for him to be real and she longs to know more about him. Little does she know that her entire world is about to change.
Alaric Rhys Faerondarl has waited a long time for Ashlinn to come of age. He is her Guardian and they are Kindred. He has been tasked to keep her safe and bring her home. Their destinies are intertwined and he will do whatever it takes to keep her out of the hands of The Morrígan and the Fomorians. But will it be enough to overcome the obstacles that have been set before them?
The battle to save the Realms is just beginning.
Disclaimer: Kindred is intended for mature readers due to some adult content.
Week 6: Char Webster
I first met Char at the Roanoke Author Invasion (RAI) a few years ago. Julie Trettel and I were eating our meal at the author dinner and Char came over and started talking to us. I recognized her name from Facebook, and meeting an author who I’d seen on FB was amazing to me! She wanted to talk to me??? Char is sweet and fiesty, and in many ways reminds me of her female lead in Discovery. This is a great read, y’all. It draws you in and keeps you there as you try to figure out what’s going on at the same time the characters are figuring it out. So much hotness and magic. Grab it now. Do it.
Hunted by evil.
Hidden from birth.
Knowing nothing of her powerful origins, twenty-three-year-old Kate Sutton believes her life is perfectly normal and is looking forward to a quiet relaxing summer.
Her life dramatically changes when she’s asked to help three troubled kids in the foster care system. Strange things begin to happen, and Kate discovers that her foster kids are not quite who she had thought and that neither is she.
Suddenly, Kate is thrust into a world where people have powers and she and the kids are being stalked. Now, she must learn who she really is and keep the kids safe before it’s too late.
A gorgeous guy keeps showing up everywhere she goes, but is he there to help her or turn her and the kids over to the ones searching for them?
Discover the dangers of being Gifted.
Week 5: Addison Carmichael
Book: Knight: Sons of the Alpha
When Addison first reached out to me, I hate to admit I wasn’t sure who she was, so I did some research. We chatted back and forth a bit and became friends, and I’m really glad she reached out! She’s an amazing woman, and oh my gosh you guys, Knight is fantastic!!! I received an ARC copy months ago, but as life would have it, life got crazy and I had to stop reading about 38% through. That was a killer. I was dying to know what was going to happen! So, yesterday I cleared out a block of time and finished it, and I was not disappointed. Truly, I didn’t see any of it coming. Okay, maybe a few things, but not all of it! If you love strong Alpha males, stubborn women who make them fight for what they want, and Werewolves, then you’re going to love this book. Also, if you like your books with a bit of well placed steam but nothing graphic, then this is also for you. There is just enough hotness for what I like, which made me even more excited! Neil is now by far in my top 5 book boyfriends.
Alexia Raine has a major problem–she’s being stalked by very dangerous men for some unknown reason, but one that will turn her entire world on its axis.
Neil Duran has five major problems:Just when he’s closing in on a vicious werewolf hunter that is kidnapping, torturing and killing their people, he’s pulled from the case by his High Alpha, Rob Bryant, to locate and return the daughter of their most valuable and gifted shifter. If he doesn’t, their entire Wolf Pack in the Pacific Northwest might collapse and lose all hard-won territory, shifting the balance of powers and throwing the entire were-kind species into a world war.
Problem one—Alexia Raine never knew her real father.
Problem two—She doesn’t even know that shifters or were-kind exist.
Problem three—Their rival Pack wants her and will stop at nothing to acquire her for several unspeakable reasons.
Problem four—She’s the most aggravating, infuriating, intoxicating woman he’s had the displeasure to rescue. And he may very well be falling in love with her.
Problem five—A wolf always finds and protects his mate.

Week 4: Bethany Wicker
Book: Unexpected Alpha
I first came across Bethany’s work in a fan group for the event Penned Con, held in St. Louis, and I loved the cover of the book (not this one). So, I read it. And loved it! I couldn’t wait to meet her at Penned Con, and lo and behold, who should be the author of the table practically across the aisle from me but Bethany herself! I was kinda giddy. Now, I wanted to buy every book she had (because again, I loved that first one I read *Cough- The Pirate’s Siren*) but then her werewolf series caught my eye. You better believe I honed in so fast on those books it wasn’t even funny. Not only do they sound amazing, but I’ve finally been able to start going through my TBR pile and I’ve started Unexpected Alpha, and I have to say, I’m hooked! Honestly, you can tell a lot about people by, well, people watching, and I have to say that Bethany is a super sweet lady with an adorable family. If you haven’t checked out her books yet, I highly suggest you stop putting that off!

Female Alphas are unheard of in werewolf society, and the Sapphire Pack is no different. So when Lena’s father dies, no one is more shocked than she to discover that his Alpha powers have transferred to her. Lena has her hands full protecting her pack from hunters and rogue wolves, while simultaneously facing prejudices and power-hungry males who want to mate with her just to steal her title.
But when the uber-sexy Kane enters the picture, Lena gets a lot more than she bargained for. He irritates her to no end, while giving her butterflies at the same time. With his interference and her new-found power bubbling under her skin, something inside her changes, leaving her confused as to what she truly is. She soon discovers that searching for answers is most difficult when the last person she can trust is the only one who has them.

Week 3: Heather Karn
Book: Gargoyle’s Kiss
This week’s author is one I know very well! It’s me! Like I first explained, my friend Julie Trettel and I are doing this project together, so our books are included in this list. Gargoyle’s Kiss was never among the ideas I had planned for a book, but when the idea sprouted, I dropped everything I was doing to write it. I’ve never had a book come to me so easily and with the speed this one wrote. This book was so popular that my readers started asking for more from this world, so I’ve done just that. The next book (also a standalone) just released, so if you want to check it out, it’s called Gargoyle’s Pixie. Even more books are coming in this collection! It certainly is a fan favorite!
FB Page: https://www.facebook.com/HeatherKarnAuthor
“I craved the sun until I found the moon.”
Gargoyles, the ugly, mutant creatures atop prestigious old buildings. Just statues and tales. At least that’s what Larissa thought. She didn’t believe the rumors of gargoyles living in the forbidden forest that sat behind the university, or the rumors that the mysterious Gargoyle’s Kiss would set them free, at least not until she unintentionally kissed one. But kissing a statue of an unusually attractive man shouldn’t be life changing. After all, what’s the harm in a little kiss?
Week 1: Karen Lynch
Our next special guest is Karen Lynch! Karen was one of the first indie authors that I read, which began my journey to publishing. I read Relentless for the first time in 2015, and I have to say, I’ve literally lost track of how many times I’ve read it (I think I was around 30 when I lost count). This is a world that won’t leave your heart unscathed in all the good ways. In 2017 I was able to meet Karen for the first time, and yes, I fan-girled, giggled, and almost cried. She’s one of my author heroes, and I have to say, meeting her was definitely on my bucket list. So, there you go. Time to get reading!
FB Page: https://www.facebook.com/KarenLynch.Author/
Sara Grey’s world shattered ten years ago when her father was brutally murdered. Now at seventeen, she is still haunted by memories of that day, and driven by the need to understand why it happened. She lives a life full of secrets, and her family and friends have no idea of the supernatural world she is immersed in or of Sara’s very powerful gift.
In her quest for answers about her father’s death, Sara takes risks that expose her and her friends to danger, and puts herself into the sights of a sadistic vampire. On the same fateful night she meets Nikolas, a warrior who turns Sara’s world upside down, and who is determined to protect her even if it’s the last thing she wants.
Sara’s life starts to spin out of control as she is hunted by an obsessed vampire, learns that her friends have secrets of their own, and reels from the truth about her own ancestry. Sara has always been fiercely independent, but in order to survive now she must open herself to others, to reveal her deepest secrets. And she must learn to trust the one person capable of breaking down the walls around her.
As an intro to this post, a friend and I are going to be doing a weekly post about books you shouldn’t miss in 2019! And thus begins week 1!
Week 1: Ira Robinson
Book: Clockwork Heart
This week begins with the one and only Ira Robinson! Okay, maybe he’s not the only, but he’s certainly not someone you want to miss out on. I first “met” Ira when he interviewed me on a radio show last year. That was one of the funnest interviews I’ve ever had. He’s a natural in that realm and was able to put me at ease within minutes. There’s no doubt in my mind that he has a way with words and will take you to worlds not yet explored. You won’t find many people who work as hard at this author thing as Ira does. Go check out his work!
