Week 4: Bethany Wicker

Book: Unexpected Alpha

I first came across Bethany’s work in a fan group for the event Penned Con, held in St. Louis, and I loved the cover of the book (not this one). So, I read it. And loved it! I couldn’t wait to meet her at Penned Con, and lo and behold, who should be the author of the table practically across the aisle from me but Bethany herself! I was kinda giddy. Now, I wanted to buy every book she had (because again, I loved that first one I read *Cough- The Pirate’s Siren*) but then her werewolf series caught my eye. You better believe I honed in so fast on those books it wasn’t even funny. Not only do they sound amazing, but I’ve finally been able to start going through my TBR pile and I’ve started Unexpected Alpha, and I have to say, I’m hooked! Honestly, you can tell a lot about people by, well, people watching, and I have to say that Bethany is a super sweet lady with an adorable family. If you haven’t checked out her books yet, I highly suggest you stop putting that off!

Female Alphas are unheard of in werewolf society, and the Sapphire Pack is no different. So when Lena’s father dies, no one is more shocked than she to discover that his Alpha powers have transferred to her. Lena has her hands full protecting her pack from hunters and rogue wolves, while simultaneously facing prejudices and power-hungry males who want to mate with her just to steal her title.

But when the uber-sexy Kane enters the picture, Lena gets a lot more than she bargained for. He irritates her to no end, while giving her butterflies at the same time. With his interference and her new-found power bubbling under her skin, something inside her changes, leaving her confused as to what she truly is. She soon discovers that searching for answers is most difficult when the last person she can trust is the only one who has them.

week 3

Week 3: Heather Karn

Book: Gargoyle’s Kiss

This week’s author is one I know very well! It’s me! Like I first explained, my friend Julie Trettel and I are doing this project together, so our books are included in this list. Gargoyle’s Kiss was never among the ideas I had planned for a book, but when the idea sprouted, I dropped everything I was doing to write it. I’ve never had a book come to me so easily and with the speed this one wrote. This book was so popular that my readers started asking for more from this world, so I’ve done just that. The next book (also a standalone) just released, so if you want to check it out, it’s called Gargoyle’s Pixie. Even more books are coming in this collection! It certainly is a fan favorite!

“I craved the sun until I found the moon.”

Gargoyles, the ugly, mutant creatures atop prestigious old buildings. Just statues and tales. At least that’s what Larissa thought. She didn’t believe the rumors of gargoyles living in the forbidden forest that sat behind the university, or the rumors that the mysterious Gargoyle’s Kiss would set them free, at least not until she unintentionally kissed one. But kissing a statue of an unusually attractive man shouldn’t be life changing. After all, what’s the harm in a little kiss?

week 2

Week 1: Karen Lynch

Book: Relentless

Our next special guest is Karen Lynch! Karen was one of the first indie authors that I read, which began my journey to publishing. I read Relentless for the first time in 2015, and I have to say, I’ve literally lost track of how many times I’ve read it (I think I was around 30 when I lost count). This is a world that won’t leave your heart unscathed in all the good ways. In 2017 I was able to meet Karen for the first time, and yes, I fan-girled, giggled, and almost cried. She’s one of my author heroes, and I have to say, meeting her was definitely on my bucket list. So, there you go. Time to get reading!

On the same fateful night she meets Nikolas, a warrior who turns Sara’s world upside down, and who is determined to protect her even if it’s the last thing she wants.

Sara’s life starts to spin out of control as she is hunted by an obsessed vampire, learns that her friends have secrets of their own, and reels from the truth about her own ancestry. #Indiebooklist Monday: Week 1

As an intro to this post, a friend and I are going to be doing a weekly post about books you shouldn’t miss in 2019! And thus begins week 1!

week 1

Week 1: Ira Robinson

Book: Clockwork Heart

This week begins with the one and only Ira Robinson! Okay, maybe he’s not the only, but he’s certainly not someone you want to miss out on. I first “met” Ira when he interviewed me on a radio show last year. That was one of the funnest interviews I’ve ever had. He’s a natural in that realm and was able to put me at ease within minutes. There’s no doubt in my mind that he has a way with words and will take you to worlds not yet explored. You won’t find many people who work as hard at this author thing as Ira does. Go check out his work!
